- Registration: Organisations seeking board talent register on the Board Owl platform.
- Matching: Matches between individuals and companies are regularly made by our algorithm with our oversight.
- Resources: In the meantime, members of Board Owl can access a carefully curated selection of training courses, certifications and content to help them on their career journey and to improve their chances for being matched with a dynamic board position. Members can also access our resources library, assessment services, events, and partner offers. These resources are designed to help individual members prepare for board positions, compete for the top roles, and assist companies in the hiring process.
- Board Owl membership and access to our board resources and training is open to anyone. Diversity is a cornerstone of our business, deeply ingrained in our development and operational strategies. - Normally our members are exec and non-exec directors, senior managers, consultants and decision-makers interested in pursuing board roles, as well as companies seeking qualified board members.
- However, to have a good chance of being matched with a board or non-executive director position it’s likely that: -
- You will have had a recent working career of at least 15 years
- To be matched for an executive or non-executive board position you will have had a previous board career of at least 5 years or a recognised board competency certification or qualification
- Yes, Board Owl operates globally, connecting executives and companies from numerous sectors and regions. Our network currently includes board personnel is over 50 countries. The Board Owl platform aims to match expertise regardless of geographical location, with the goal of assisting companies in their growth and scaling efforts, ultimately achieving success.
- If we’re given a company recruitment mandate and we don’t have a suitable member within our network that’s a good match, we have a number of partner networks globally who we can approach to find a good fit. This is all achieved within the normal Board Owl charging structure.

Board Owl accepts payment through credit card via Stripe, bank transfer or PayPal all of which are secure payment platforms. Board Owl itself doesn’t store customers credit card details.
Individual Members
- Board Owl's platform accurately matches registered paid members with opportunities and provides personalised recommendations based on members' profiles and preferences. However, individual members, can also search from a selection of available board opportunities shown on the platform.
- It's important to note that only some opportunities will be visable at any one time, as it depends on each company placing mandates with us and their privacy policies. Some companies don’t want roles to be publicly advertised. If you see roles that fit your expertise and interests but haven't been matched, please don't hesitate to reach out. Board Owl will check the requirements to see if you can be matched.
- Board Owl offers comprehensive training programmes designed to equip candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge for board roles. These programmes include individual coaching sessions, various board preparation workshops, and an educational programme.
- Coaching sessions provide personalised guidance from a Board Owl expert and an experienced board member on board readiness and transitioning to a board position. Board preparation workshops equip participants with the key knowledge needed for boardroom success, including understanding board dynamics, responsibilities, and the recruitment process. These programmes also cover topics such as corporate governance and legal responsibilities, leadership, financial literacy, risk and crisis management and strategic planning.

- Gold Owl: Our Gold Owl membership is designed for directors and chairs (exec and non-exec) who are pro-actively seeking to build a portfolio or plural career.
- Gold Owl members realise the value of regular networking with their peers in the Board Owl community where open board opportunities that may not be listed on the platform are discussed. Gold Owl members understand the importance of keeping themselves up to date with Continuing Professional Development. They want to ensure that their CV, and recent attendance on educational programmes for high performance boards make them stand out from other candidates on the Board Owl network, and give them the best possible chance to landing a quality board or advisory board role within a dynamic business.
- Gold Owl members can also earn fees from coaching and mentoring opportunities within the Board Owl membership base. They are also the first candidates to be put forward where short-term interim, fractional roles or ‘sector expert’ assignments for due diligence come onto the Board Owl platform.
- All the Board Owl content including helpful videos on landing the best roles is available free to Gold Owl members. Gold Owl members also gain the higher possible discount on partner training programmes like IMD Business School and The Financial Times Director Program Workshops.
- Board Owl: Our Board Owl membership is designed for directors and chairs (exec and non-exec) who are actively seeking to build out a non-executive or portfolio career. This may suit directors who already have one or two non-executive or advisory board roles they feel that that they can take on one or two more fractional roles.
- These individuals still wish to be included in networking events and have access to some training courses and useful materials but at a lesser discount than Gold Owl members.
- Board Owl members have access to the same content within the Board Owl portal as Gold Owl members, but accessing some of it will be at extra cost
- Owlet: Our basic Owlet free membership is great for you if you’re not sure yet if you want a portfolio career or you’re passively looking for non-executive or an advisory board role.
- This membership gives individuals a chance to look more at the Board Owl platform and to access a selection of free content that provides more information about the Board Owl community.
Yes, Board Owl provides resources and support to help members optimise their profiles and resumes for board roles, including tips, templates, coaching sessions, and personalised feedback.
For every match received per email, you will be able to access all details on our platform in your member log-in area and decide whether this opportunity is a good fit for you. We will share your data with the company only after you have given your consent. In addition, at any time you can withdraw yourself from the application process should you not be convinced by the position.
No, Board Owl does not schedule appointments for individuals. The interview process is coordinated directly between the candidate and the company using the details provided by the system once a match is offered. However, our support team are available to provide support to both individuals and companies as needed. If you require assistance, feel free to reach out to us. Additionally, we offer resources such as guides, and contract templates designed to aid you throughout the process.
- Certainly, and we encourage members to regularly do this. Members have the capability to modify their profile details at any time by logging in accessing their accounts. Whether it's updating your CV or adding new information, you have full control over your profile.
- The modern business environment is changing quickly, business models and the challenges facing businesses ebb and flow and its important and its important your CV, qualifications, certifications, and profile reflect that.

Companies can post board roles on Board Owl by creating a company profile and submitting job postings through the platform. Board Owl offers tools and guidance to help optimise job listings for maximum visibility. Please note: if you have multiple vacant positions, please create one opportunity for each advisor/board member you wish to hire, especially if you require varied skills.
Companies can post various types of board roles, including non-executive director positions, advisory board roles, committee memberships, and board chair positions across different industries and sectors. Board Owl can also match you with interim or emergency directors or sector experts for due diligence assignments.
Yes, companies will have access to a list of candidates who have expressed their approval and interest in the position. On the Board Owl platform, companies will be able to view the CV of each candidate, as well as a profile curated by us containing the most pertinent information.
