Sustainability for decision makers
October 17, 2022 / 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm CEST

Join our next webinar “Sustainability for decision makers” as a part of the ongoing Dialogue Series. It is an ongoing series of webinars covering the most current and relevant topics, which are emerging on the agendas of corporate boards and having a substantial impact on the responsibilities on boards and their members.
Together with PwC Switzerland we unpack how the critical issues of our times are being discussed and addressed by the supervisory and executive boards in financial organizations.
With a distinguished panel of experts, the upcoming topic we will cover in detail will be:
The Board’s Role in Sustainability – Why a corporate board should be an ESG leader rather than a follower
Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) and the focus on sustainability have substantially increased in importance for companies across sectors and industries. Through the heightened scrutiny of regulators and various stakeholders, boards and corporate directors are confronted with new expectations and requirements. In the financial industry in Switzerland as an example, the regulatory wave is the single most key driver for sustainability / ESG activities in the firms, where regulations and disclosures requirements set by FINMA have real consequences for BoDs and Executive Board members.
According to PwC, leading companies view ESG issues as a business imperative: they manage risks while capitalizing on opportunities, including sharing their story and vision for the future, setting themselves up for long-term success and value creation in the process. Laggards, on the other hand, ignore the topic as a whole or still think of ESG as a check-the-box exercise grounded in philanthropic activities.
In this respect, driving sustainability from the Boardroom can make a difference deciding if a company is a leader or a follower. Understanding why the board of directors should oversee the sustainability agenda is the first step and subsequently, understand how a board can fulfill their critical role in sustainability oversight.
In this webinar we will unpack how this instrumental topic is being discussed and addressed by the supervisory and executive boards and will outline their main tasks, amongst others such as:
- Link purpose and strategy
- Managing the increasing regulatory requirements
- Establish reliable ESG information
- Allocate oversight
In order to share these insights we are very pleased to have the following panelists:
